西方國家耶誕放假前，家家戶戶忙著採購，而這個野鹿家庭也不例外。據TheDoDo12月13日報導，這週在科羅拉多州的小鎮上，一間雜貨店接待一批特別的嬌客，只不過這批客人不是人類，而是的野鹿一家人，店員洛瑞·瓊斯（Lori Jones）回憶：當時鹿媽媽先走進來四處張望，像是在找商品似的，看到這個景象，我忍不住笑了出來，因為牠的行為太像人了」但因為瓊斯不懂鹿語，所以不知道牠要找什麼商品。
在當地，野生動物很少主動接近人類，所以遇到野鹿主動靠近，並進到人類店裡，真的是非常奇特的際遇。

瓊斯當時看到母鹿小孩也想進來，立刻喊了一聲：「No」牠們才停在門外。

考量到牠們是野生動物，如果太熱情接待，給予食物或讓他們繼續待著，之後對人會產生依賴，所以瓊斯在拍了這張照片後(母鹿還繼續看商品）就將牠們請出門外了。
